The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 shed 6,84% to reach 1471,89 points (1579,98 points as of September 12th, 2008). Last week the Russian stock market experienced multidirectional movement of prices. At the beginning of the week the market showed a steep slump, however, after the suspension of trading the situation stabilized and Friday saw the record daily growth rate.
Power sector reported the largest drop: the RTS Index - Electric Utilities shrank by 18,35%. By the end of the week the Oil & Gas sector shifted to the positive territory and closed 0,94% up compared to one the week ago.

The total trading volume on RTS for the week September 15th – 19th, 2008 equaled 8,6 bln. dollars (218,5 bln. roubles*), including all types of trades.
The week's top sellers were Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) – $20,992 mln., followed by OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" ordinary shares (GMKN) - $16,332 mln. and Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) – $6,667 mln. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 26,44%, 20,57% and 8,40% accordingly.
The week's top gainers were OMZ ordinary shares of (OMZZ) – by 28,00% to $6,40, privileged shares of Ufaorgsintez (UFOSP) – by 7,14% to $1,5 and ordinary shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGS) – by 6,49% to $0,591.
The week's top losers were JSC "TGK-6" ordinary shares (TGKF), that fell in price by 57,45% to reach $0,0002, ordinary shares of JSC "WGC-3" (OGKC) that closed 36,00% down at $0,032 per share and privileged shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGSP) that posted 32,26% loss at $0,21.
Last week RTS experienced significant trading volumes in bonds. The week’s top sellers were LLC "FinanceBusinessGroup" bonds (FBGR02) – $8,202 mln. -- www.rts.ru
