On Saturday, October 25 at 11am, the Louisville Orchestra presents orKIDStra Halloween Spooktacular at the Kentucky Center’s Whitney Hall. Conductor Jason Weinberger will conduct the Louisville Orchestra in this year’s Spooktacular which will feature music from Fantasia, including Paul Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Local dance companies and studios join forces to help tell the story of this inquisitive young magician. Audience members are invited to come in costume and walk across our stage as part of our annual costume parade. Pre-show discovery activities, sponsored by Family Allergy & Asthma, begin at 10am in the lobby. A fun combination of learning and play leads the hour before the performance with face painting, Gymboree activities, dancing and the Instrument Petting Zoo provided by CMC Music, Inc.

The OrKIDStra Halloween Spooktacular concert includes Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain; the Imani Dance & Drum Company and La’nita Rocknette Dancers dancing to Igor Stravinsky “Finale” from The Firebird: Suite the River City Ballet performing to Amilcare Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours” from La Gioconda.

Following these lively performances, all the costumed audience members can march across the stage to Charles Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette. The show ends with the Louisville Ballet Youth Ensemble performing to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 and the UofL Dance Academy dancing Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer's Apprentice. -- www.LouisvilleOrchestra.org
