Maestro Daniel Hege will lead the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, with guest artists Barbara Shirvis, soprano, Mary Phillips, mezzo-soprano, Syracuse University Oratorio Society and Syracuse University Singers, in a performance of Mahler’s epic symphony that answers life's most haunting question: Is there life after death? On Friday night, ticket buyers are invited to attend a free post-concert Halloween party at Opus in Armory Square, where they may present their ticket stub in exchange for a free drink.
Experience an emotional ride as Daniel Hege takes the audience through Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor. Daniel Hege describes the Resurrection Symphony as “a life-altering journey; Mahler’s music is about life and death and everything in between. He writes passionately about the meaning of life, and he does it in the most exciting ways, through the massive and powerful sound of the orchestra.”
Discover the story and superstitions behind Mahler’s second symphony at a free preconcert talk that will take place on both Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:00 p.m., led by Music Director Daniel Hege.
