On Friday morning, October 31 at 10:00 am, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Neal Gittleman will lead the DPO Chamber Orchestra in Guitar Meets Concerto, a concert celebrating the concerto genre and featuring the Brasil Guitar Duo.
The Friday morning concert is a rare break from the series' normal Wednesday evening/Thursday morning scheduling format.
The program, the second in the DPO's 2008-2009 Demirjian Chamber Exploration Series in the Mead Theatre at the Schuster Center, starts with Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach's Symphony in B-Flat, H. 658, followed by Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Guitars. Then, the orchestra performs Tomas Svoboda's Concerto for Two Violins featuring DPO Associate Concertmaster Aurelian Oprea and Acting Assistant Concertmaster Dona Noune-Wiedmann and closes with Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto for Two Guitars.
Free pre-concert refreshments include pizza appetizers provided by sponsor Boston's Bistro at the Gypsy for the Wednesday, 6:30 pm performance and complimentary coffee and donuts provided by sponsors Boston Stoker and Mercy Siena Retirement Community and tea provided by Basically British for the Friday, 10 am performance. -- www.daytonphilharmonic.com
