Twilight At The Taj Mahal

The Desert Cancer Foundation has carved out a niche in the desert's gala circuit over the past few years - transforming luxurious locations into "fantasy destinations" which have whisked guests away for an evening on an African safari, a mysterious journey on the Nile and a trip on the Orient Express.

This year, supporters of the Foundation are invited to travel to yet another place and time for "Twilight at the Taj Mahal" on Saturday, November 15th - where the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells will become the passage to colonial India.

"We like to offer a completely different experience at our gala event," said Peggy Bilous, executive director of the Foundation. "From the decor to the food to the music, every aspect of the evening is designed to transport guests to another world without airport hassles and passports. The details will truly overwhelm the senses."

For wine collectors and connoisseurs, the gala's Rare Wines Auction will present a number of rare vintages. Wine lovers can browse rare selections by premier wineries such as Kosta Browne, which is not open to the public but is donating three Magnums to the auction.

Most importantly, this gala is a key fundraiser for Desert Cancer Foundation - fueling the organization's ability to assist Coachella Valley cancer patients who lack insurance or sufficient funds to pay for their medical care.

"For a decade, the Gift of Life Celebration has played an integral and direct role in cancer screenings and treatments for our friends and neighbors here in the desert," said Charissa Farley, board member and event co-chair.

As Desert Cancer Foundation commemorates the gala's 10th Anniversary this year, it will also honor Indian Wells Council Member, Rob Bernheimer, for his 11 years of service to the organization.

"Twilight at the Taj Mahal" is presented by the Comprehensive Care Center at Desert Regional Medical Center. Additional sponsors include Baccarat, Palm Springs Life, AceDirect and Scott Burch Design. Wells Fargo, The Private Bank and Ludington Construction are Gold Table Sponsors, and Jackie Lee and Jim Houston and The Berger Foundation are Silver Table Sponsors.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. on November 15th at the Miramonte Resort and Spa, with costume or cocktail attire requested. Individual tickets for the gala are $350, and sponsor tables are available for $5,000 and $10,000.

Founded more than ten years ago, Desert Cancer Foundation (DCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting residents in the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities who need financial assistance in obtaining screening, diagnosis and treatment for cancer. -- www.desertcancerfoundation.org
