On Xetra and the Frankfurt floor €250.7 billion were turned over in German equities and €14.5 billion in foreign shares. Roughly 97 percent of the transaction volume with German equities and more than 86 percent of foreign equities were traded on Xetra and on the floor at Börse Frankfurt.
Volkswagen AG was the strongest DAX stock on Xetra in October at €45.8 billion. Salzgitter AG was the top MDAX stock at €1.4 billion while Medion AG led the SDAX stock at €88.3 million and Q-Cells SE headed the TecDAX at €1.7 billion. At €3.6 billion, the iShares DAX was the exchange-traded fund with the largest turnover.
On all stock exchanges in Germany €293.4 billion were traded in October according to order book turnover statistics – an increase by 23 percent compared year-on-year (October 2007: €239.2 billion). This total included €280.9 billion in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds, as well as €12.5 billion in fixed-income securities. The number of trades at all exchanges added up to 46.1 million (October 2007: 29.2 million) which is an increase by 58 percent. -- www.deutsche-boerse.com
