TSE Announces Special Changes

When the paperless system takes effect on January 5, 2009, several listed companies plan to conduct stock splits and adopt a share unit system in order to organize odd lots into normal trading units (an amount of a security less than the one unit of trading for that particular security) that will not be included in the transfer system.

These issues will be suspended from trading from December 25, 2008 to December 30, 2008.

In accordance with this trading suspension and from the point of view of the users of the TOPIX, etc. indices, the TSE will change the way it handles adjustments made to indices during the period after close of trading on December 24, 2008 to the close of trading on January 6, 2009.
