Known for their superb flamenco performances, Compania Flamenco Jose Porcel brings an explosion of rhythms, colors and emotions. Direct from Spain, the company represents the best in classic, traditional flamenco while flawlessly melding contemporary styles and moves. It is a performance of fiery footwork, brilliant costumes, evocative, sensual choreography and brilliant musicianship performed with tremendous vivacity and nuance.
Born in Seville, Spain, Jose Porcel began performing the passionate folkloric dances of his Spanish ancestors at the age of 13. Today, the charismatic and irresistibly energetic Porcel leads his own internationally renowned flamenco company, with a focus on unique and intense choreographic interpretations of traditional flamenco styles.
In 2000, Jose Porcel danced as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. That same year, he was contracted as the first dancer in the Compania Espanola de Antonio Marquez, performing on tour around the world and at the Opera de Paris for more than 20 sold-out performances, followed by a critically acclaimed tour of the United States during the 2001-2002 season.
