New Tiny Tots At Seattle Symphony

Seattle Symphony’s new Tiny Tots Extras concerts featuring Studio3Music’s Kindermusik educators presents its first program of the season, Play Me a Story. This program, designed for children from birth to age five, invites audience members to create a musical story and see it come alive onstage. Performances will take place Friday, December 5, and Saturday, December 6, at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Tiny Tots Extras are 35- to 45-minute performances that engage our youngest music lovers—infants, toddlers and preschoolers—in musical games, stories and songs and help them build strong relationships with symphonic music. All performances take place in the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall.

Play Me a Story features Studio3Music Kindermusik educators “Miss Allison” Butler, “Miss Stacy” Porter, “Miss Annalisa” Reichlin and actor Michael Larson. Miss Allison and her friends will create a musical story as visual artist Shellwyn Badger depicts the story with live illustrations that will be projected on a big screen behind the performers. The program will demonstrate how music can be used to show emotion, and end with a holiday sing-along. Play Me a Story is the first of three Tiny Tots Extra concerts in collaboration with Studio3music and Kindermusik.

For over 25 years Kindermusik activities have awakened children’s imaginations through movement and music. Kindermusik activities promote language development, symbolic thinking, coordination, social interaction and imaginative thinking. Kindermusik classes are offered in partnership with Studio3Music, a Seattle-area Kindermusik studio that recently ranked #1 out of 6,000 studios world-wide. -- www.seattlesymphony.org
