The Science Museum was recognised for a range of achievements including its reinvented interactive gallery, Launchpad – which has attracted 1.2 million visitors in its first year – alongside its strong exhibitions programme which has included Dan Dare and the Birth of High-tech Britain and award-winning electronic artwork Listening Post.
The Museum also won the Silver Award for Business Event of the Year and the Bronze Award for Business Venue of the Year. The awards recognise the museum as a unique venue for holding events, capitalising on the scenic galleries and spaces which make it stand out from larger hotels and venues with purpose built facilities and larger capacity. In the business category, the museum beat prestigious venues such as Vinopolis, the Emirates Stadium, Hilton London Metropole, The Grove and the Brit Oval.
The annual awards, which are chosen by a panel of expert judges and by the public, are designed to celebrate what the diverse city of London has to offer Londoners and visitors from across the UK and the world – from entertainment to hotels and restaurants, shops and family days out.
Molly Jackson, Head of NMSI Trading at the Science Museum said, "We are utterly delighted to have won this prestigious award. It is a testament to the hard work of all staff at Science Museum and goes to show that the Science Museum is a brilliant free day out in London and the greatest place to enjoy science in the world." -- www.sciencemuseum.org.uk
