On Friday, January 9, 2009 at 8pm, the Louisville Orchestra will perform with ABBAmania live at the Louisville Palace!
Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt will lead the Louisville Orchestra on all of your favorite tunes by the Swedish ‘70s pop group perfectly performed by Toronto cover band ABBAmania.
Transport back to a time with platform boots, Nescafe and Evel Knievel; the era that gave us terms like “Boob Toob,” “far out man” and “shagadelic.” Gone are the 8-tracks and EST therapy, but one thing remains: the love of ABBA. We can’t help but sing to “Fernando,” “The Winner Takes it All” and “Take a Chance on Me.”
ABBAmania brings the songs to life with singers that look and sound like the real band, dressed in authentic costumes and moving to the music just like Agnetha and Anni-Frid. ABBAmania was one of the only shows to be invited to perform at the Royal Alexander Theatre in Toronto, where the Mamma Mia! cast exclaimed, “The closest thing to ABBA that you will ever see.”
So, dancing queens, dust off your go-go boots. Lounge lizards, get your leisure suit dry-cleaned. For one night, we will have you saying “Mamma Mia!” -- www.louisvilleorchestra.org
