Salute to Vienna, the World’s Greatest New Year’s Celebration returns with a brand-new program on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 6pm.
Joining Salute to Vienna for this special New Year’s Eve performance will be - Soprano Ingeborg Schopf, Tenor Michael Baba, and Conductor Sascha Goetzel, as well as The Strauss Symphony of America, and dancers from the Budapest Ballet and International Champion Ballroom Dancers. In addition to the performance, there will be a special New Year’s Eve Party hosted by the State Theatre at The Heldrich hotel across the street from the theater.
Salute to Vienna is an official representation of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s Neuhjahrskozert (New Year’s Concert), the most popular artistic performance in the world. The event is broadcast live to approximately 1.2 billion viewers across the globe from Vienna’s world-famous Musikverein concert hall each New Year’s Day.
Every Salute to Vienna performance involves a cast of over 75 top musicians, dancers, and singers hailing from Europe and North America saluting the incomparable Johann Strauss, Jr. These talents present the arias and duets from his popular operettas such as Die Fledermaus and The Merry Widow, and dance exhilarating waltzes and polkas such as the Blue Danube Waltz.
