Museum Of Picture Book Art, Amherst will run an exhibition entitled ‘Petra Mathers: Lottie's New Friend’ through April 26, 2009, in the central gallery.
In celebration of Petra Mathers’s extraordinary gift to the museum of all the original art and preliminary materials from her popular series of books about Lottie, the amiable chicken from Oregon, The Carle is pleased to present the second exhibition of work from the series, the New York Times award-winning Lottie’s New Friend (1999).
Included will be finished art, preliminary sketches, and dummies that reveal how the story took shape. See how Lottie’s dear friend Herbie, the equally delightful duck, copes when an exotic new neighbor befriends his best friend. -- www.picturebookart.org
