"America's Ambassador of Song," Michael Feinstein, captures the essence of popular music, bringing insights and passion to the rich tapestry of songs from the big band, jazz and pop eras. Not only a top vocalist, but also a talented composer and arranger, Michael has released more than twenty diverse albums and sold out shows worldwide. His joy in performing led him to open Feinstein's at the Regency in New York City. He brings that same intimacy to Southern California with "Feinstein's at the McCallum."
The popular series continues at McCallum Theatre on Friday, February 20, at 8:00pm when Michael is joined by Grammy Award winner and stage actress Debby Boone. In this evening's performance, Michael and Debby will be accompanied by a 17-piece big band as Michael showcases music from "The Sinatra Project," and Debby performs music from "The Rosemary Clooney Songbook."
Debby Boone earned instant fame in 1977 when "You Light Up My Life" became a huge hit and earned her a Grammy for Best New Artist of the Year. Since then, she has won two additional Grammy Awards and received seven Grammy nominations. In addition to her recording career, Debby has starred as the lead in numerous stage productions, including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on Broadway, and as Maria in Lincoln Center's 30th Anniversary production of The Sound of Music. She also starred as Rizzo in the Broadway production of Grease, and toured nationally in Meet Me In St. Louis. Debby performed the role of Anna in the 50th Anniversary staging of The King and I, and launched her symphony program "Debby Boone Sings Stage and Screen."
Debby's release, Reflections of Rosemary, is an intimate musical portrait of her late mother-in-law, the legendary singer Rosemary Clooney. The CD is a collection of 14 tunes distinguished by Debby's strong vocal talents and a very personal, emotionally rich story line. Most recently, Debby performed at the Gold Coast in Las Vegas with her Rosemary Clooney tribute. She also tours the acclaimed "Reflections of Rosemary Tribute,"along with musical director, John Oddo,at many performing arts centers and symphony halls throughout the United States. -- www.mccallumtheatre.com
