Berkshire Museum Holds Wine Auction

“Vintage Time: The Wine Auction at the Berkshire Museum” will take place on Saturday, May 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. Auctioneer Jamie Ritchie, head of Sotheby’s Wine Department in North America, will lead the live auction of more than 40 lots of rare and fine wines, unique vacations, and exclusive dinners ranging in value from $1,000 to $10,000 each.

This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Sheila Chefetz who was a long-standing Berkshire Museum supporter and served as the president of the board from 2006 through 2008.

The evening’s guest of honor is Laurent Drouhin of Maison Joseph Drouhin, the firm started by his grandfather in 1880 in Burgundy, France. Drouhin is the director of Sales for Maison Joseph Drouhin U.S. and Caribbean markets. His duties include serving as the Drouhin ambassador, introducing Drouhin wines and educating the trade and general public.

More than 100 lots of wine, travel, evenings out, and merchandise will be offered in a silent auction from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The evening’s festivities will include wine tastings throughout the galleries, champagne provided by Taittinger, hors d’oeuvres by Guido’s Fresh Marketplace, Haven Cafe & Bakery, Jae’s SPICE, Marketplace of the Berkshires, Rubiner’s Cheesemongers & Grocers, and SoMa Catering and viewing of the exhibitions “Vintage Time: Timepieces from the Berkshire Museum Collection” and “That ’70s Show.”

According to the museum’s Executive Director Stuart A. Chase, “Berkshire Museum’s biennial wine auction is a very special event that raises funds to support our educational programs. It’s always a lot of fun and gives us all an opportunity to celebrate the past, present and future work of the Museum. We are grateful to have such a strong community of supporters and are thankful for our sponsors, donors, patrons, and volunteers who make the wine auction such a great success.” -- www.berkshiremuseum.org
