Are you Making Love Out of Nothing At All? Dreaming Sweet Dreams? Ever found yourself All Out of Love? Then don’t miss Air Supply at Sydney Symphony when they play just five concerts with three of Australia’s major symphony orchestras this May. Guaranteed to deliver a night of 70s and 80s nostalgia, escape with one of the most successful bands of all time as they play their greatest hits.
The Air Supply story started in Sydney in 1975, when British guitarist Graham Russell met Melbourne-born vocalist Russell Hitchcock during rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar. They became instant friends with their common love for the Beatles – never imagining that during the next two decades their music would be up there on the charts alongside their idols.
Playing in coffee bars, pizza parlours and nightclubs throughout Sydney, they gained a reputation for their unique harmonies and original songs. The 1976 single, Love and Other Bruises, was recorded in one afternoon and instantly shot to the top of the Australian charts. Air Supply opened for Rod Stewart during his tours of Australia and the United States in the late 1970s and in 1980, Lost in Love became the fastest selling single in the world and topped all the charts worldwide.
Russell Hitchcock’s clear, soaring tenor voice combined with Graham Russell’s talent for writing simple and moving songs has resulted in over 20 million albums and 10 million singles sold worldwide. Air Supply has forever engraved their name in pop music history, with hits like All Out of Love, The One That You Love, Sweet Dreams, Every Woman in the World, Making Love Out of Nothing At All, and many more.
In 2008, Air Supply ranked in the top 100 on the best musical acts of all time in the Billboard Hot 100's 50 year anniversary edition, based on their performance on the charts.
Air Supply will tour Australia performing with The Queensland Orchestra, Sydney Symphony and West Australian Symphony Orchestra for five special shows. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to hear these classic songs supported by the sounds of a full symphony orchestra.
