The Canton Symphony Orchestra, back by popular demand, will provide music and movies under the stars at Zing in the City, May 30, at 8:30 PM in downtown Canton. There will be children's activities before the music and dazzling fireworks as a fitting finale to this free Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce festival.
Bring your folding chairs and blankets to the Kresge "green space" on Market Avenue North between Third and Fourth streets. Settle in and listen to the Orchestra like you've never heard it before.
Under the direction of Assistant Conductor Matthew Brown, they'll entertain you with themes from popular motion pictures, while trailers from those movies play on a pair of jumbo movie screens.
Theater-style concessions will be made available for munching.
The free concert, which starts at 8:30 p.m. will be followed by a pyrotechnic display as awesome as those seen at Light Up Downtown. People with children are encouraged to be "early birds," and come downtown between 5 and 8 p.m. to let the little ones engage in some creative arts activities, including make 'n' take projects. -- www.cantonsymphony.org
