Sacramento Ballet Plays Season Finale

Presenting highlights from its recently sold-out performance at the Mondavi Center’s Studio Theatre, the STC performances will showcase Amy Seiwert's Well it's not a cry, Nolan T'Sani's Ballet de Murphy, Molly Lynch's A Journey and Jared Nelson's Jump Jive, along with additional repertory favorites in a powerful display of the creative and artistic excellence that is the hallmark of what Sacramento Ballet’s Artistic Directors Ron Cunningham and Carinne Binda have consistently and brilliantly brought to the stage.

Amy Seiwert, Choreographer in Residence with the Smuin Ballet and one of Dance Magazine’s “Top 25 Choreographers to Watch,” creates works of visceral beauty and sculptural grace. Her Well it’s not a cry, charges the atmosphere with the electricity of erotic relationships.

Nolan T’Sani, former New York City Ballet soloist and international Ballet Master, recreates his hilarious satire, Ballet de Murphy, to the music of Erik Satie. Based on the premise that everything that can go wrong will go wrong, this piece proves that ballet is no exception to the rule. Under rehearsed ballerinas collide and run amok in this delightful parody of classical ballet.

Molly Lynch, former Artistic Director of Ballet Pacifica and founder of the International Choreographers Initiative, uses the lush, romantic music of Antonin Dvorak to set the scene for two couples to come together, part, and reconnect, seeking relationship in an intimate journey of life in A Journey.

Jared Nelson, former Sacramento Ballet principal dancer and current principal dancer with the Washington Ballet, tops off a spectacular evening of dance with his infectious Jump Jive, to the music of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, The String Pearls Orchestra and the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. Originally created for the grand opening of Sacramento architectural landmark, The Money Store, this homage to the fabulous 40’s lights up the stage with toe-taping, high octane energy. -- www.sacballet.org
