Florentine Opera Celebrates Anniversary Season

Founded in 1933, the Florentine Opera Company celebrates the culmination of our 75th anniversary season with a special concert & celebration. One-night-only event to be held May 23, 2009 at the Marcus Center.

Maestro Joseph Rescigno will lead the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in an evening of acclaimed arias and beloved ensembles from world-famous operas, including Carmen, The Flying Dutchman, The Pearl Fishers, Norma, The Abduction from the Seraglio and others, performed by world-renowned guest artists: Cynthia Lawrence (soprano), Robynne Redmon (mezzo soprano), Jonathan Boyd (tenor) and Mark Doss (baritone) All four artists have previously performed on the Florentine stage.

In addition to the Diamond Anniversary Concert, audiences may also attend an evening-long celebration, all held at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, recalling the cool elegance of the 1930s, when the "Florentines" first sang.

The full evening package includes valet parking, a pre-concert cocktail party, premium concert seats, a tantalizing dinner reminiscent of the best 1930s supper club, dancing and mingling with the four guest performers. -- www.florentineopera.org
