Kathleen Parlow (1890 – 1963) was a Calgary born violinist who achieved international stature as a successful concert artist in the twentieth century. She performed with such renowned musical figures as Gustav Mahler, Rachmaninoff and Glazunov amongst other famous composers and performers of the period.
A close friend of Senator and Isabella Lougheed (her father had been a witness at their wedding), Kathleen frequently visited Calgary and stayed in Lougheed House. She gave chamber concerts for the Lougheeds and their friends and this series is designed to recapture the glamour, spirit and programming that guests to the House would have experienced a century ago. -- www.cpo-live.com
