Singapore Youth Orchestra Plays Zheng-Ruan

Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra will play Melodies of Zheng & Ruan on 5 Nov (Thu), 7.30pm, at Esplanade Recital Studio.

Seetoh Poh Lam - Zhong Ruan
Xu Hui - Zheng
A Tribute to the Yueqin - Ning Yong
Jackdaws Frolicking in Water - Ancient Tune

Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra musicians Seetoh Poh Lam and Xu Hui pit their skills in this one-of-a-kind recital concert featuring plucked-strings instruments ruan and guzheng. Ruan, known for its soothing sound and recognised more as an accompaniment in the orchestra, pairs with guzheng, a highly-popular and captivating instrument often played in solo pieces.

Repertoire includes A Tribute to Yueqin, a lovely ruan piece, as well as Jackdaws Frolicking in Water, a classical and representative guzheng work with strong Teochew flavour. -- www.sco.com.sg
