Don’t miss it!
The much-loved British musical tells the fun-packed story of a bunch of friends who set out on a frantic bus ride of a lifetime from London to Greece. They're joined by pop starlet Barbara who, disguised as a boy called Bobby, has run away from her showbiz lifestyle. Bobby hitches a ride with the unknowing gang of holiday makers and romance blossoms when she reveals her true identity and falls for bachelor boy Don.
Summer Holiday, which originally starred Cliff Richard and Una Stubbs in the iconic 1963 movie and Darren Day on stage in the 1990s, also includes a romantic wedding in Italy as part of the famous road trip in a bright red double-decker bus.
Hit songs include Bachelor Boy, Dancing Shoes, The Young Ones, Living Doll and, of course, the sensational title song Summer Holiday.
The cast have been busy rehearsing the show since September 2008 in order to guarantee the high production values people have come to expect from Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company, who have staged more than 60 sensational productions over 50 years. In recent years the Company has performed and won awards for Me and My Girl, 42nd Street and My Fair Lady.
Cliff Richard himself has even sent a message to BFLOC wishing them well! He said: “Very best wishes for your production of Summer Holiday. I hope you have as much fun on stage as we did making the movie!” -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
