
Food writer Michael Ruhlman set to appear with the new documentary, Food Fight; Goran Bregovic films coincide with VIVA! & Gala performance.
Four films featuring musician Goran Bregovic's music, food writer Michael Ruhlman introducing the documentary Food Fight, and the completion of the Midweek Movies and Friday Night First Run series headline the June Film Series at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
While the Balkan's Bregovic and his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra will appear at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 15 at PlayhouseSquare as part of CMA's VIVA! and Gala Around Town Series, his talents can be enjoyed once again starting on June 17, by viewing four films with Bregovic scores, all made by directors from the former Yugoslavia. These include Charuga, Time of Gypsies, Arizona Dream and Underground.
Famous food writer Michael Ruhlman will help begin June's Midweek Movies, as he appears in person with the documentary, Food Fight at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3. Audience members will see the origins of the local-sustainable-organic food movement that began in the 1960s and 1970s in Berkeley which has now swept across the country.
Another Midweek Movie in June is Mock Up on Mu, set for 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. Set in 2019, this sci-fi movie shows a female spy traveling from her moon-based Empire of Mu to Earth to seek help from a rocket scientist and a defense contractor.
Two films making their Cleveland premieres as Friday Night First Runs are Theatre of War and Virtual JFK: Vietnam if Kennedy Had Lived. At 7 p.m. on Friday, June 5, Theater of War takes a backstage look at The Public Theatre's 2006 Central Park production of Mother Courage and Her Children, while also looking at Meryl Streep's strategies as an actress. Virtual JFK: Vietnam If Kennedy Had Lived at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 12 shows the use of declassified footage, documents and audio tapes to speculate how events during the Vietnam War would have gone if President John F.
