Summer Movies Come To Chicago Museum

Chicagoans are invited to take in the sights of the city on the big screen during the Chicago History Museum’s Movies in the Park film series, presented in conjunction with the Chicago Park District.

All screenings are free and strictly BYOP- bring your own picnic - as they will be held on the Uihlein Plaza, directly behind the Museum in Lincoln Park. The three films, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off and The Break-Up, all showcase famous Chicago landmarks and neighborhoods.

On June 23, My Big Fat Greek Wedding follows the story of 30 year-old Toula Portokalos, who longs to break free of her family’s old world views. After Toula’s father finds out she has been secretly dating a non-Greek high-school teacher, her family has to learn to accept him and Toula has to learn to accept her family.

On July 14, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off features a suburban high-school kid and his friends as they play hooky and turn downtown Chicago into their own personal playground, all while staying one step ahead of their suspicious principal, Mr. Rooney.

On August 18, The Break-Up follows Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston’s relationship slowly, but comically, spiral out of control as they battle over who will win their luxurious Lincoln Park condo. All movies begin at dusk. -- www.chicagohistory.org
