Willy Russell’s award-winning musical Blood Brothers is back at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre from Monday 22nd June to Saturday 4th July starring Blackpool favourite Maureen Nolan as Mrs Johnstone. Don’t miss it!
Blood Brothers is the captivating tale of twin boys, separated at birth, only to be re-united by a twist of fate and a mother’s haunting secret.
Written by the legendary Willy Russell, Blood Brothers is set in Liverpool in 1962. Mrs Johnstone and her family live in a poor part of Liverpool, in stark contrast to Mr and Mrs Lyons who live a much more comfortable life in the sophisticated end of town. Mrs Johnstone is deserted by her husband and takes a job as a housekeeper to make ends meet. But her fragile world comes crashing down when she discovers she is pregnant again – with twins!
In a moment of desperation she enters a secret pact with her employer, only to see the situation spiral out of control and lead to the show’s shattering climax.
This epic tale of Liverpool life has been running in London’s West End since July 1988 and touring the UK since 1995. With show-stopping numbers Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and Tell Me It’s Not True and unforgettably powerful performances, Bill Kenwright’s amazing 2009 production of Blood Brothers will stay with you for ever. -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
