Hayseed Dixie have shot to prominence in recent years on the strength of a genius idea and a killer live show. They will bring a concert called Baskery to Horsecross Theatre, Perth on 2 Aug. 09, at 7:30 p.m.
These top-class bluegrass pickers started out distilling a potent moonshine of classic string-band instrumentation and rock dynamics on covers of AC/DC songs then broadened their repertoire to include classic tracks from the likes of Queen, Aerosmith, Motorhead, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Their unique "rockgrass" sound has come full circle with some superb original material.
"Their sheer velocity and deranged ensemble-playing somehow mirror the thunderous wattage of the originals." The Guardian
Baskery are three Swedish sisters performing a highly original mixture of rockabilly, bluegrass, blues, punk rock attitude and sweet harmony vocals. Having earned huge acllame for their debut album Fall Among Theves, Baskery are above all, a killer live band.
"absurdly wonderful...they do their own thing with a glee which, coupled with no little virtuosity and runaway vivaciousness, is irresistible." Mojo -- www.horsecross.co.uk
