"Rhapsodies in Blue,” an evening concert performed by the Lake Placid Sinfonietta on Friday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Adirondack Museum. The concert is a joint benefit for the Adirondack Museum and the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

The evening's program will include: Strauss Blue Danube Waltz, Bach Movement of Double Concerto for 2 violins or violin and oboe, Grieg Peer Gynt (Morning/Mt. King), Grainger Irish Tune from Country Derry, Vivaldi Summer from 4 Seasons, and Beethoven Symphony No. 5 (complete).

This is an outdoor concert; we encourage guests to bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Picnics are welcomed and beer and wine will be available for purchase. In case of rain the performance will be held in the museum's Roads and Rails building.

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta, "The Orchestra of the Adirondacks," is the only professional orchestra in the Adirondack Park. Its mission is to enhance the cultural life of the Adirondack region through the presentation of musical performances of exceptional quality and through music education programs.

The Orchestra consists of a Music Director/conductor and nineteen talented professional musicians who perform with symphony orchestras throughout the country. Each is a highly qualified artist and capable of performing as a featured soloist.

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta is now in its 29th year as an independent non-profit organization. The Lake Placid Club had founded the orchestra in 1917 and sponsored it for many years.

Extend your weekend in Blue Mountain Lake by redeeming your concert ticket the following day for one free Adirondack Museum admission.
