A fascinating exhibit honoring Abraham Lincoln, opens Friday, July 24th at 5pm at the La Quinta Museum.
Chronicling the life of America's 16th President, the exhibit, which runs through the end of October, will feature authentic Civil War artifacts such as a musket, battlefield bullets, merchant currency and Confederate money. Also on display will be a framed document, hand signed by President Lincoln! Admission is FREE!
From 5-7pm on July 24th enjoy an opening reception at the Museum with Abraham Lincoln impersonator William Peck. Enjoy samples of Civil War style hardtack as Peck brings Lincoln to life through his vivid story telling.
The Museum gift shop offers an opportunity to purchase hardtack, made popular during the Civil War as a troop ration. This authentic hardtack has been manufactured by Bent's Cookie Factory on vintage machines. Bent supplied rations to Union soldiers during the Civil War.
On July 30th from 6-7:30pm, the exhibit offers a special treat for children ages 5-9. Come watch a short cartoon on Abraham Lincoln and then build your very own pretzel log cabin! -- www.la-quinta.org
