Massachusetts Museum Of Contemporary Art will play Balthrop, Alabama on Saturday, August 29, 2009, 8:00 pm, at Pavilion or Club B-10.
The theatrical folk-rock art collective Balthrop, Alabama combines the siblings Lauren and Pascal Balthrop with former members of Rainer Maria and their Brooklyn neighbors.
Artist Michael Arthur accompanies the band on pen and ink, illustrating the songs live with the drawings projected behind the band in the vaudeville tradition of a "chalk talk," a precursor to animation.
