Alan Ayckbourn’s hilarious social comedy Absurd Person Singular will visit Blackpool’s Grand in October in celebration of the renowned playwright’s 50th year in theatre with a star-studded cast including Robert Duncan (Drop The Dead Donkey), Elizabeth Carling (Casualty), Lisa Kay (Heartbeat), Deborah Grant (Not Going Out), Matthew Cottle (Game On) and Stephen Beckett (Coronation Street).

Also just announced to round off an already exciting 2009 programme at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre are the amazing Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers with a heart-pounding concert of spectacular rhythms; the award-winning comedy Teechers from In Yer Space; a one night stand with the legendary Jimmy Tarbuck – This Is My Life and the dazzling debut of dance company Motionhouse with their breathtaking new work Scattered.
Add to that the smash-hit TV sitcom Porridge being brought to the stage for the very first time with popular TV and stage actor Shaun Williamson (EastEnders, Extras) to lead the cast of 14 as the cheeky, loveable rogue, Norman Stanley Fletcher; the magnificent musical Evita featuring some of the most famous and inspiring stage music ever written; and the unforgettable Vagina Monologues starring Lesley Joseph (Birds of a Feather), Lisa Riley (Emmerdale) and Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street).
Blackpool’s Grand also welcomes the return of the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll party Dreamboats and Petticoats with a star cast to be announced; the Supreme entertainment of Dancing in The Streets wonderfully recreating the magic of Motown and, of course, Michael Jackson; cockney rocker Joe Brown In Concert by popular demand; comedy king Joe Pasquale and of course the annual family pantomime which this year is the magical Peter Pan starring CBBC’s Barney Harwood, Emmerdale’s Gary Turner and BBC Radio Lancashire’s Steve Royle from Friday 4th December and lots more!
