
York Theatre Royal will present a comedy night on 10 October 2009, featuring the well known artists.
HATTIE HAYRIDGE, popular award-winning stand-up comic, performs live all over Britain and around the world, including at both the prestigious Montreal and Sydney Comedy Festivals. Apart from her numerous stand-up appearances on television and radio, she has received worldwide recognition for her part as HOLLY the computer in the hugely successful BBC comedy series, RED DWARF and most recently starred as Lizzie Gillespie in BBC 1's JONATHAN CREEK. Her television appearances include stand-up shows from FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE to SATURDAY LIVE, panel games from CELEBRITY SQUARES to HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU, plus documentaries including BACK TO BEDLAM with Jo Brand.
JIM TAVARE starred in The Sketch Show which won a Best Comedy Series BAFTA and was nominated for numerous other awards including a BANFF Rockie Award, a Golden Rose of Montreux Award and a British Comedy Award. He featured in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban in which he played Tom, the inn-keeper of The Leaky Cauldron. Described as "transcending mainstream and alternative comedy" he has worked all over the world, performing throughout Europe, Australia and the USA and has performed three times at THE ROYAL VARIETY PERFORMANCE.
DAVE THOMPSON is best known for playing Tinky Winky in the Teletubbies, a semi-regular character in both series of Al Murray's sitcom Time Gentlemen Please, and two cameo roles in Ben Elton's feature film Maybe Baby. Dave has appeared in ITV's The All New Harry Hill Show, and TV Burp! Dave is an international stand-up comedian and compere, known for his brilliant one-liners and odd persona. He has written for Harry Hill's TV Burp! and The Sketch Show, which were broadcast on ITV. Both series of The Sketch Show have sold around the world, including to CBS in America.
ANTHONY KING is an outwardly normal looking bloke who turned to comedy after he was disowned by the Catholic Church for confessing in too much detail. Having finally found a use for his twisted sense of humour, Anthony has gone on to perform at all the major comedy clubs across the UK and beyond, including performances in the Netherlands, Dubai, Majorca, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. -- www.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
