Ahoy me hearties! Lucky local picnic fans met up with the dazzling pantomime cast of Peter Pan at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool’s fun-packed Pirate Picnic in the Park earlier this month.

Hundred of families packed up a lunch and spotted CBBC’s Barney Harwood and Gemma Hunt, Emmerdale’s Gary Turner and BBC Radio Lancashire’s Steve Royle sailing the high seas in the summer sunshine at Stanley Park on Wednesday 5th August to launch this year’s fun-packed panto.

The FREE FAMILY FUN DAY at Blackpool’s award-winning picnic area also offered lots of exciting and entertaining free things to do for everyone including face painting, a big bouncy ‘galleon’ castle, a fun treasure hunt around the park, Blackpool Zoo’s creepy crawly roadshow, costume characters, fab free giveaways and lots more.

This year’s fun-filled family panto at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre will star CBBC’s Barney Harwood (Smile, Prank Patrol, Basil’s Swap Shop) as Peter Pan and the hilarious Steve Royle (BBC Radio Lancashire) as silly sidekick Smee from Friday 4th December 2009 to Sunday 3rd January 2010.

Gary Turner (Emmerdale’s hot-blooded Latin chef Carlos Diaz) is Peter Pan’s arch enemy Captain Hook and CBBC’s Gemma Hunt is Peter’s mischievous fairy friend Tinkerbell, while madcap acrobats The Nitwits will be causing havoc as the crazy pirate crew.

Peter Pan is the enchanting tale of the boy who never grew up. In Edwardian London Wendy Darling tells bedtime stories to her brothers Michael and John of swashbuckling swordplay with the formidable pirate leader Captain Hook and the heroics of the playful Peter Pan. But the children become the heroes of an even greater story when Peter Pan flies into their nursery one night and leads them over moonlit rooftops to the lush jungles of the mysterious kingdom of Neverland. Wendy and her brothers join Peter and his friends the Lost Boys in an exhilarating life, free of grown-up rules, while also facing the inevitable showdown with Hook and his pirates.

Fly with us to Neverland in this fantastic family adventure, packed full of magic and mayhem. This year's traditional pantomime at the Grand will also be full of music and dance, fun and laughter with fabulous costumes and lavish sets.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock… Make sure you watch out for the Croc!
