Philadelphia Opera Presents Orphee And Eurydice

Opera Company Of Philadelphia will play Orphee & Eurydice by Christoph Willibald Gluck, sung in French with English translations.

Their love is so true and complete that not even death can come between Orphee and Eurydice in this hauntingly beautiful, mythical tale of the supernatural.

When Eurydice leaves the living, Orphee is given the chance to bring her back from the Underworld with one condition – he must promise not to look at his beloved until they return to Earth. But will her faith be strong enough to follow him – even when she fears his love is lost?

With stirring melodies of love, longing and redemption, this production marks the Opera Company Premiere of this classic work in the ideally-suited, intimate venue of the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater.
