"Each year we have a different theme and this year we thought it would be fun to do Mardi Gras," said Judi Pofsky-Cohen, McCallum Theatre Manager of Special Events.
"We encourage all participants to get in the mood by dressing the part. I'm sure we'll see lots of masks, hats, capes, boas, beads and feathers," Pofsky-Cohen commented. "This is a great chance to let your imagination run wild."
Pofsky-Cohen went on to say, "Whatever the outfit, it really is an enjoyable way to spend a few hours with friends, while at the same time, giving to a good cause. Plus, we give awards for the best costume and best bowlers. But you needn't be a good bowler to attend! Just come and have fun!"
The popular bowling event raises money for a variety of the Theatre's activities, including arts education programs provided by McCallum Theatre Institute, the education division of the McCallum, serving more than 250,000 Coachella Valley school children.
The event is scheduled in two sessions. The first squad bowls from 11am to around noon, at which point there is a silent auction, lunch, awards presentation and a fun Chinese auction. The second squad begins bowling at 1:30pm, after which a late lunch is served. Those who come to cheer for participating teams can attend the lunch for a $15 donation.
