Based on the Grimm brothers’ fairy tale, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel was first performed in Germany in 1893 and in London in 1894.
These performances, both done at Christmastime, began the tradition of staging the opera during the holiday season. Hansel and Gretel is Fort Worth Opera Studio’s special holiday presentation for families.
