The brutal conflict in Darfur - Origins, circumstances, and solutions: These will be the focus of an international conference with distinguished speakers to which the Jewish Museum Berlin and Human Rights Watch cordially invite you on Friday 16 March.
The conference is aimed at the general public, press representatives, decision makers, and professionals from the field. Alongside the background and the effects of the conflict in Sudan, the responsibility of the international community will also be addressed.
You are also cordially invited to a symposium on Sunday 18 March which focuses on the blind spot in the European consciousness where wars on the African continent are concerned.
The conference and the symposium are part of the "Darfur: Crimes Against Humanity" campaign week organized by the Jewish Museum Berlin in cooperation with Human Rights Watch. S.E. Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General, is the patron of the Darfur week which will take place from 15 to 22 March. The Museum and the human rights organization aim to shine the public spotlight onto one of the world's most brutal conflicts at present. The campaign week will provide a forum for the debate on the violation of human rights and fresh impetus for finding effective and enduring ways of dealing with the situation in Sudan. -- www.juedisches-museum-berlin.de
