"Acer's AT3705 is the first LCD TV that integrates digital TV with media gateway functionality," said Jim Wong, president, IT Products Business Group, Acer Inc. "It provides customers with an integrated digital experience via the range of practical and convenient applications. We envisage a true Digital Home experience to converge information with entertainment, then, we may claim the arrival of the Digital Home era."
"With the Intel verification," continued Wong, "Acer is leading the way in delivering the Digital Home with a standard, which shall give users a peace of mind with their choice."
Intel Viiv technology is Intel's new brand for in-home entertainment PCs designed to transform how consumers manage, share, and enjoy a broad and growing assortment of movies, programs, music, games, and photos. It is based on industry standards such as DLNA, UPnP, and DTCP-IP. The AT3705 LCD TV allows playing back content such as recorded digital broadcast TV programs and protected content purchased at content service providers over a home network by its support for DTCP-IP.
The Intel Viiv technology verified AT3705-MGW supports UPnP Remote User Interface and DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over IP). Therefore, it allows operations using a common user interface to access remote applications and services and play back some types of copyrighted content stored on Intel Viiv technology-based PCs over a home network while keeping the content protected.
"There is an explosion of digital entertainment and media available via the Internet today," said Gerald Holzhammer, vice president, Digital Home Group and general manager, Consumer PC Platform Group. "Using an Intel Viiv technology-based PC, people can access that same entertainment available on their PCs on the Acer AT3705-MGW, the first digital TV verified to work with Viiv technology."
Acer is collaborating with IT industry leaders to develop empowering technology for customers, in pursuit of its long-term mission of breaking the barriers between people and technology.
