Explore Tibet Exhibit At Florida Museum

Explore the nature of spiritual leadership, the hazy lines between religion, philosophy and culture, and the Buddhist views of the impermanence of life in a two-night screening and discussion of "Tibet: A Buddhist Trilogy" at the Florida Museum of Natural History at 6:30 p.m. March 8.

The museum will show Part I, "The Dalai Lama, the Monasteries, and the People," and Part III, "The Fields of the Senses" March 1. The series continues March 8 with Part II, "Radiating the Fruit of the Truth."

The Florida Museum temporary exhibit "Tibet: Mountains and Valleys, Castles and Tents" is free to the public during these special Science Movie Nights, held as part of Museum Nights. Museum Nights is held most Thursday evenings while the University of Florida is in session at the Florida Museum and Harn Museum of Art, and is sponsored by UF Student Government.

"Tibet: Mountains and Valleys, Castles and Tents" includes beautifully crafted jewelry, furniture and ceremonial ornaments that tell a tale of a lavish aristocracy, while personal belongings, weapons and tools of nomadic traders, farmers and herders tell a very different story. The exhibit is from The Newark Museum's renowned collection of historical and archival treasures of Tibetan culture. -- www.flmnh.ufl.edu
