Traveling by car just isn't efficient enough for one Grammy Award winning singer.
Adele, the British songstress who has enjoyed incredible success over the past year, is applying for a helicopter landing license. The certification would allow her to have helicopters fly to and from her luxurious new mansion located in a secluded area in West Sussex.
Adele fans don't need to worry about the singer taking the controls of the helicopter. The license is for landing purposes only and does not include piloting. Presumably, Adele would have a personal pilot to whisk her to and from performances and other engagements.
The remote location of her home makes transportation by car an arduous process. Her home is already equipped with a helicopter landing pad, making the application for a landing license a mere formality.
Adele showed off her new digs in a recent television interview with CBS' 60 Minutes. The deluxe mansion, valued at 7 million pounds (just over $11 million U.S. dollars), costs the singer about $24,000 per month to rent. The expensive price tag is worth it for the privacy it allows Adele, who had become fed up with being a frequent tabloid subject in London.
The lavish home sits on 25 acres of private land. In addition to the helicopter access, amenities on the property include 10 bedrooms, two swimming pools, a tennis court and an extensive media center. The helicopter landing pad is joined by a hangar.
Adele, who is currently in a relationship with the founder of Life Water, Simon Konecki, admits that the house features little furnishing and much of the mansion remains unused.
Making the move to her new palatial estate capped a whirlwind year of success for Adele. She released her critically acclaimed album "21" in early 2011, and it quickly became a worldwide sensation, reaching the top of the charts in 26 countries. Adele joined the ranks of Pink Floyd and The Beatles for consecutive weeks spent atop the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
The album received plenty of recognition at the Grammy's earlier this month. Adele captured six awards that night, including one for Album of the Year. She also brought home the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Vocal Performance, Pop Vocal Album, Short Form Music Video, Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. She also performed her award-winning song "Rolling in the Deep" at the show, receiving a standing ovation from the star-studded audience.
