Will Ferrell delivers pre-game intros for New Orleans Hornets [VIDEO]

Ferrell was Hornets PA man for a day on Wednesday night.

For one night, Chuck Edwards got the night off from announcing lineups in New Orleans.

That's because the New Orleans Hornets public address announcer was replaced by comedian Will Ferrell.

Ferrell stood at center court and took to the microphone in front of 15,456 NBA fans in the New Orleans Arena to deliver the lineups for both the visiting Chicago Bulls and the home Hornets.

In classic Ferrell style, the comedian added a tidbit of information about each player. For the Bulls, these facts were slightly unflattering. For example, fans were told by Ferrell that power forward Carlos Boozer still lives with his mother and Derrick Rose's favorite movie is "The Notebook."

Hornets players were greeted by slightly more entertaining facts. Ferrell let the crowd know that center Emeka Okafor majored in communications at the University of Connecticut, but he also minored in "love."

The intros, which can be viewed in their entirety below, were clearly well-received by the crowd. Even normal PA man Edwards had a good time with it.

"Enjoyed Will Ferrell doing intros in my place at the Hornets game tonight. He shoulda rocked the Flint Tropics gear, though... :-)," Edwards tweeted.

The Tropics reference, of course, pertains to Ferrell's role as Jackie Moon in the 2008 basketball movie, "Semi-Pro." In the movie, Ferrell does everything but announce for the Tropics, as he serves as a player-coach-owner trying to make his NBA dreams come true.

While Ferrell's introductions pleased the crowd, unfortunately for those in New Orleans, the game was less appealing. The Bulls scored the first nine points of the game and cruised to a 90-67 victory, sending New Orleans to their 7th straight loss. The Hornets sit at 4-22, the worst record in the Western Conference.

Ferrell was in New Orleans shooting a new movie called "Dog Fight," which also stars Zach Galifianakis. In the film, the two co-stars serve as rival politicians trying to win the election for a seat in congress. The movie is slated to hit theaters Nov. 12.

Ferrell isn't a complete stranger to basketball. In addition to his role as Jackie Moon, the comedian also was the captain of his high basketball team in Irvine, California. He has also dabbled in countless other sports both on screen and off. Ferrell played a pro race car driver in "Talladega Nights," and he also has completed several prestigious marathons.
