Outback Steakhouse offers free kid's meal with purchase of adult entree

Outback Steakhouse is giving away coupons for a free kid's meals with purchase of an adult entree.

The coupon, available to subscribers of the Australian-themed restaurant chain's e-mail list, is good until Thursday, Oct. 3. It is for kids ages 10 and under, and valid for items from the Joey menu only. It is not valid for lunch. It is valid for dinner dine-in or Curbside Take-Away. There is a limit of two free kid's meals per table.

Outback Steakhouse's Joey menu includes Grilled Cheese-A-Roo, Chicken Fingers, Boomerang Cheese Burger, Mac-A-Roo 'N Cheese, Joey Sirloin Medallions, Grilled Chicken on the Barbie, and Junior Ribs. All entrees except the Mac-A-Roo 'N Cheese come with the choice of fresh-steamed broccoli, apples and grapes or Aussie Fries. Drinks are included, with the choice of 2 percent milk, 100 percent apple juice, 100 percent orange juice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice or a soft drink.

The Grilled Cheese-A-Roo contains 268 calories, 107 of them from fat. It contains 30 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber, 12 grams of fat (6 saturated, 0.3 trans), 10 grams of protein, 26 milligrams of cholesterol, 3 grams of sugar and 978 milligrams of sodium.

The Chicken Fingers contain 472 calories, 258 of them from fat. They contain 28 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 29 grams of fat (13 saturated, 1.5 trans), 26 grams of protein, 67 milligrams of cholesterol, 1 gram of sugar and 791 milligrams of sodium.

The Mac-A-Roo 'N Cheese contains 607 calories, 227 of them from fat. It contains 63 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, 25 grams of fat (14 saturated, 1 trans), 29 grams of protein, 79 milligrams of cholesterol, 9 grams of sugar and 1223 milligrams of sodium.

The Joey Sirloin Medallions contain 212 calories, 95 of them from fat. They contain no carbohydrates, no fiber, 11 grams of fat (4 saturated, 0.6 trans), 31 grams of protein, 71 grams of cholesterol, no sugar and 188 milligrams of sodium.

The Grilled Chicken on the Barbie contains 147 calories, 15 of them from fat. It contains no carbohydrates, no fiber, 2 grams of fat (0 saturated, 0 trans), 32 grams of protein, 79 milligrams of cholesterol, no sugar and 340 milligrams of sodium.

The Junior Ribs contain 364 calories, 230 of them from fat. They contain 2 grams of carbohydrates, no fiber, 26 grams of fat (10 saturated, 0 trans), 34 grams of protein, 89 milligrams of cholesterol, no sugar and 249 milligrams of sodium.

Outback Steakhouse has four "Kids Live Well" meals: the Grilled Chicken on the Barbie with Apple Juice, the Grilled Chicken on the Barbie with Orange Juice, the Joey Sirloin Medallions with Apple Juice, and the Joey Sirloin Medallions with Orange Juice.

Kids Live Well is a program sponsored by the National Restaurant Association in collaboration with Healthy Dining. It emphasizes " fruit and vegetables, lean protein, whole grains and low-fat dairy, and limiting unhealthy fats, sugars and sodium", according to the National Restaurant Association. Outback Steakhouse is one of 19 brands in the program.
