What size free chips and dip do you want?

I saw free chips come sailing in on Christmas Day, on Christmas Day. I saw free chips come sailing in on Christmas Day in the morning.

Chili's is offering two sizes of free Chips and Salsa with purchase. The first size is the standard size. The deal, a free Chips and Salsa with purchase of an adult entree, is good only for dine-in. The offer is valid today through December 15. It is not valid as part of the $20 Dinner for Two. A Triple Dipper counts as an entree. The deal can not be combined with other coupons.

But say you're having a party and you need a party-size free chips and salsa. No problem--Chili's is offering a free Chips and Salsa Party Platter with purchase of a regular Party Platter. I don't know how big this is, but considering that a standard order can serve as a meal for at least two, this is probably pretty big. This deal excludes all Party Platter sides and the House Salad Party Platter (yeah, I know--who gets salad for a party?). There is a limit of one offer per order, and it can not be combined with other coupons.

Don't want Chips and Salsa? Chili's also has a coupon for a free Brownie Sundae with purchase of an adult entree. This offer is good for dine-in only and can not be combined with other coupons. Full-Size Flatbread qualifies as an entree. It is not valid as part of the $20 Dinner for Two.

Are the deals worth it? It really depends on if you're a chip fan. Personally, I love the chips, which Chili's makes fresh daily from corn tostadas. And the salsa, which is just the right mix of spice and tomato, is also enjoyable. And if you're anything like my family--two parents, three grown kids, two in-laws, three boys and one girl age 3 and under--you could probably get some mileage out of the Party Platter option. That said, the standard size can fill people up too--my youngest brother and I used to go to Chili's and order the Chips and Salsa with drinks and have that be our dinner. So regardless of which chip deal you choose, you're getting a lot of food even without the prerequisite purchases.

And the free Brownie Sundae is worth it if you're a chocolate fan. The brownie is served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. It kind of gets you right in the childhood, waiting impatiently for the brownies to come out of the oven so you could eat them warm--that's exactly what this tastes like, as if it's fresh out of the oven.

All three of the coupons are available on Chili's web page under "Holideals".
