Sheffield Theatres Present Don't Look Now

Following the death of their young daughter John and Laura visit Venice to escape their pain. They meet two sisters, one of whom claims to be psychic and has visions of the dead girl. Tension mounts as John and Laura are led through a maze of canals and alleyways towards a terrifying climax. This production will transfer to the Lyric Hammersmith from 13 - 31 March 2007.

Following their acclaimed hit COMFORT ME WITH APPLES, Lucy Bailey and playwright Nell Leyshon join forces again to bring Daphne du Maurier's cult supernatural thriller to the stage.

Lucy Bailey is co-founder of the innovative music theatre group, gogmagogs. Her recent theatre productions include last year's TITUS ANDRONICUS (Shakespeare's Globe) and THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE starring Val Kilmer in the West End. She adapted and directed BABY DOLL which transferred from Birmingham Rep to the National Theatre before enjoying a West End run. Later this year, Lucy will also be directing Nell Leyshon's forthcoming play GLASS EELS (Hampstead Theatre).
Nell Leyshon is an award-winning playwright (Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright Pearson Award) whose plays include COMFORT ME WITH APPLES and the forthcoming GLASS EELS (Hampstead Theatre, directed by Lucy Bailey). Nell's first novel BLACK DIRT (Picador) was long-listed for the Orange Prize and short-listed for the Commonwealth Prize. She also writes for BBC Radio Three and Radio Four.

Lucy and Nell are joined again by set designer Mike Britton, (designer for COMFORT ME WITH APPLES), and co-composer/sound designer Nell Catchpole (co-founder of gogmagogs). Nell's co-composer/sound designer is, fellow long-term Brian Eno collaborator and renowned percussionist, J Peter Schwalm. The creative team is completed by lighting designer Chris Davey, whose recent work includes THE SEAGULL and PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY (National Theatre).

The cast is led by Simon Paisley Day as John, whose credits include THE PHILANTHROPIST (Donmar Warehouse), ANYTHING GOES (West End) and THE COAST OF UTOPIA, SPEER and HAMLET (National Theatre) and Susie Trayling as Laura - HABEUS CORPUS and MEASURE FOR MEASURE (Peter Hall Company), DREAM PLAY and IPHIGENIA AT AULIS for Katie Mitchell (National Theatre) and EDWARD II (Sheffield Crucible).

They are joined by Joanna McCallum, whose credits include THE GATHERING STORM and TOM AND VIV, and Susan Wooldridge - PINTER SKETCHES (National Theatre) and CELEBRATION (Almeida/Lincoln Center) as the unforgettably haunting twin sisters.
