The Canadian Museum of Civilization, in partnership with Aroha Fine Arts, presents an evening of dancing that will allow you to explore the complexity and beauty of Kathak during the Moghul era. Six dancers will perform this unique blend of North Indian and Persian artistry.
Males used to perform Kathak as a solo dance until the late 1930s, when female dancers emerged on the scene. The main characteristic of a Kathak is the connection the dancer establishes with the audience. Another important aspect of the performance is the facial expression that is supported by gestures of the hands and movements of the body.
Dancing in the Moghul Courts - on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. -- www.civilization.ca
