Earth Day Celebration At California Academy

Celebrate Earth Day with two days of fun programs designed for families on Saturday-Sunday, April 14-15, at California Academy of Sciences, 875 Howard Street, San Francisco. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from local conservation organizations and public agencies. All programs free with Academy admission.

ART & SCIENCE FOR CHILDREN AGES 4-8 at 10:30 am

Try your hand at Gyotaku, the Japanese art of fish printing.

THE SECRET LIFE OF YOUR DINNER at 12 pm

What's life like for ocean animals before they show up on our menu? Discover the bizarre and interesting life of lobsters, crabs, tuna, scallops, and other seafood favorites, as well as more unusual animals eaten in cultures around the world.

DISCOVER, CELEBRATE & PROTECT at 1 pm

Learn ways in which we can all discover the wonders of the natural world and help protect its treasures.

MEET THE BIOLOGIST at 2 pm

On Saturday, April 14, join aquatic biologist Dave Chan for an introduction to the Academy's 150-pound giant sea bass. On Sunday, April 15, watch the Academy's coral reef residents eat their lunch and learn about coral reef conservation. -- www.calacademy.org
