San Antonio, TX

As a retired military veteran, I love San Antonio, and everything it has to offer those who decide to make it their new residence, either temporarily or permanently. San Antonio is known for our famous River Walk, and the historical Alamo Mission. Plus, it’s also the home of your Five Time NBA Champions, the San Antonio Spurs.

If you are looking for larger affordable homes for your money, lower costs of living, job opportunities, great medical facilities, and excellent schools, place San Antonio at the top of your list. San Antonio has become one of America’s most affordable cities coming in at No.20 on the list as rated by Forbes Magazine.

For the military families, Port San Antonio which includes Fort Sam Houston, TX, Randolph Air Force Base, and Lackland Air Force Base, has state of the art medical facilities at San Antonio Military Medical Center(SAMMC), and other two bases. These military facilities include the Base Exchanges for retail shopping, Base Commissary for groceries, Base theatres, Base Housing, On Base Schools, and just about anything one would need in a community.

See the San Antonio Relocation Guide with information about the culture, military bases, places to see, entertainment, our local schools and universities, and sporting events. San Antonio has something for everyone of all ages from those retiring to those just starting new careers. Our weather is nice in the spring time and summer, and it hardly ever snows in the winter. This time of the year is great for golfers, and San Antonio has some wonderful golfing communities to test your skills. You might want to try the TPC San Antonio first, which has been the home for the Valero Texas Open.

San Antonio is constantly growing as our average home prices have risen to $219,808, and the median sales price increased by 9 percent to $185,900. With over 20 different local reproduction home builders, and a number of custom home builders from prices ranging from $140,000 to over a million, buyers can find homes that offer them more for their money compared to other areas of the country. Communities like Alamo Ranch in the northwest is one of the fastest growing developments in the city. Buyers can find new construction homes and pre-owned homes all over the city, and even in the surrounding counties, like Guadalupe and Comal.

San Antonio is one of the most multicultural cities in the country with growing nationalities from all over the world. Just see the biggest cultural celebration in Texas at our Annual Texas Folklife Festival in June which has over 40 different cultures participating. Now, Spring is always a blast with Fiesta San Antonio where you can enjoy nice foods, entertainment, parades, and many other events like a Night in Old San Antonio. San Antonio has always been a very friendly city, and there is fun and entertainment for all ages.

San Antonio is only an hour drive to Austin, TX, our state capitol where you’ll find the University of Texas, and many entertaining places to visit. The Millennials love Austin for the lifestyle, entertainment, and job opportunities there. One would just have to visit to see why the San Antonio to Austin commute is so popular.

The only thing I believe is missing from our lovely city is a Professional Football Team and Baseball Team, but we San Antonians do love the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. The Dallas Cowboys have often held their spring training in San Antonio, and it normally draws very large crowds.

I have been there many times (used to live in Del Rio while my husband was in the Air Force). You live in a wonderful city with plenty to see and do, Jerry.
