The Capuchin Food Pantries and Tavern on the Green hosted an elegant buffet cocktail party, Doodle preview, and silent auction followed by a live auction to benefit the charity associated with the Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corps. All proceeds from the auction will benefit The Capuchin Food Pantries.

"Doodle for Hunger" is a fun and exciting auction of signed original works of art by artists, entertainers, athletes, politicians, and business celebrities. The event was held in the Crystal Room at Tavern on the Green in New York City on Thursday, November 6th, 2008.

Artist LeRoy Neiman’s spectacular watercolor of the athlete who led his team to SuperBowl victory, New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning, fetched $15,000.00

Joseph Sano who organizes this important event pointed out, “LeRoy has been with us since Doodle One. His paintings have raised more money than any other doodler.”

LeRoy Neiman said, "I believe providing meals regularly for poor and hungry American families touches right on the heart of the matter. It is my privilege to lend a needed hand.”

Neiman is a longtime supporter of Doodles for Hunger. He generously supports other children’s and arts programs at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago www.siac.edu, Columbia University, the University of Southern California, Good Tidings www.goodtidings.org and Arts Horizons www.artshorizons.org

The efforts of all involved created a wonderful evening in support of The Capuchin Food Pantries – serving over 4,000 poor families in New York each week. here are some of the doodles offered at our 2008 event.
