In early 2005 RJK Explorations Ltd. acquired through staking a 1,300 acre property near Churchill, Manitoba to cover ground the principals of the company had worked on during the last Uranium Market in the early 1970s. Recently, the company added to that land position by staking an additional 7,700 acres for a total of 9,000 acres or 14 square miles.
All of these claims are 100% owned by RJK.
The mineral claims cover several unexplored radioactive showings where previous work had been limited to prospecting and shallow trenching. Chip sampling from one of the trenches returned an average grade of 1/2 lb U3O8 and 1 to 3 grams gold per ton with individual grab samples reporting somewhat higher values. Property visits in the 1970s were conducted by several major companies during which an additional uraniferous occurrence carrying gold values up to 2.27 grams gold per ton was located (personal communication with Nelson W. Baker, P.Eng., Esso Minerals, 1973).
It was postulated by geologists who had visited the uraniferous trenches located along the coast of Hudson Bay, that with the exposure to saline waters, that there was a strong possibility of surface leaching, as in the case of Elliott Lake. This would indicate that there may be somewhat higher uranium values at depth. The property had been surveyed by airborne geophysics and received limited ground follow-up at that time. Due to falling uranium prices during that era, no further work was carried out on the property and it has remained dormant until now.
The mineralization on the property is hosted within the Omarolluk Formation sediments consisting of Quartzite and Quartz-pebble conglomerates. Quartz-pebble conglomerate deposits are an important host for uranium deposits and make up 13% of the world's uranium resources with the best known examples being Canada's Elliott Lake (Uranium) and South Africa's Witwatersrand (Gold - Uranium).
The property is easily accessible, has a deep water seaport, railway, townsite and road access all within 3 to 5 miles of the showings. Since this property has never been drilled, the company plans to conduct a drilling program to determine the uranium and gold values at depth and the extent of the quartz-pebble conglomerate horizon. Technical contents of this news release were read and approved by Nelson Baker P.Eng. in a previously issued news release issued by the company on April 13, 2005. Mr. Baker is a person qualified under NI 43-101.
RJK recently completed a non-brokered unit financing and is currently updating its web site at www.rjkexplorations.com where a map of the Churchill Uranium project area is now available. RJK is aggressively looking at acquiring other uranium opportunities, either through staking or by acquisition.
RJK Explorations Ltd. is a publicly traded junior exploration company with uranium, gold and base-metal properties. The company is taking an aggressive hands-on approach to its current portfolio of projects as well as acquiring additional exploration projects when the capital and opportunity present themselves. -- www.cnxmarketlink.com
