America fell in love with them as the girls next door, charming the nation for 13 years on the Lawrence Welk Show with their sweet-voiced harmonies. The combination of their extraordinary natural vocal talents, hard working professionalism, striking looks, unassuming personalities and strong family values has earned them a place in the hearts of millions of fans nationwide. That's why, as youngsters, they were dubbed "America's Sweethearts of Song" - and America still adores them today.
In the eighties, fans were delighted to learn that the Lennon Sisters continued to grow more beautiful with each decade and were singing better than ever, with increasingly intricate harmonies and sensitive interpretations of the works of such classic American composers as Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin and Duke Ellington.
America's Singing Sweethearts have transformed before our eyes into sophisticated ladies and in 2001, crowning a stellar career, The Lennon Sisters were formally inducted into the National Vocal Group Hall of Fame in Sharon, PA. In August of 2000 Dee Dee retired after 46 years in show business. Now the Lennon sisters (Kathy, Janet and Mimi) continue to perform their distinctive harmonies as a trio.
Appearing with The Lennon Sisters are several artists known for their work on the Lawrence Welk Show: dance team Bobby and Elaine, piano player Big Tiny Little, the Page Cavenaugh Trio and emcee John Wing. They will be joined by the Big Band All Stars. Tickets for The Lennon Sisters in Concert on Tuesday, March 27 at 8pm are on sale now. Ticket prices are $75/55/45/35. -- www.mccallumtheatre.com
