Fort Worth Opera Offers Child Care Festival

Fort Worth Opera announced that it will offer complimentary child care during its opera performances for the inaugural 2007 Festival. The service will be available for Friday and Saturday evening performances and will be complimentary for all season ticket holders with children from 6 months to 11-years-old.

City Club of Fort Worth, located one block from Bass Performance Hall where Fort Worth Opera performs, will provide the facilities at no charge; the actual childcare will be provided by Clayton Child Care, which specializes in providing licensed childcare during non-school hours.

The childcare project started with Christopher Suprun, a parent and member of Fort Worth Opera's young professionals group, Leadership FWOpera. The idea was immediately embraced by other Leadership members, many of whom are parents themselves with first hand knowledge of the difficulties involved in finding evening childcare while they attend the opera.

"As expectant parents and lovers of the Opera, the child care services for Friday and Saturday nights will allow us to continue our involvement with the Opera," said Leadership Steering Committee Chair, Kenny Fischer. The 2007 Fort Worth Opera Festival opens in May and includes a world premier opera by composer Thomas Pasatieri. -- www.fwopera.org
